Transplanting Herbs

Herbs! Not only do they taste amazing and are a wonderful addition to any cooked meal, they smell amazing, too.

I love having herbs in my garden. My favourites are basil, parsley, cilantro, chives, rosemary, and dill.

While you can direct sow herbs right in your garden, you can also start herbs as transplants in small pots and up-pot them or transplant them in your garden as they grow.

In this video we talk about how to transplant herbs into larger pots to have herbs to harvest for months to come. In this video I transplant one of my favourite herbs – parsley!

Parsley is a biennial plant with bright green, feather-like leaves. Many people think of parsley as just a garnish, but it’s actually a delicious addition to sauces, salads, and even soups.

When planting parsley in your garden, plant in a spot that gets at least six hours of sunlight a day. You also need to have well-draining soil, which makes growing parsley great in pots and grow bags!

You can direct sow parsley right in your garden, or even start it in pots to be transplanted. If starting parsley indoors, you can start your seeds about 6 to 8 weeks before your last frost date. If sowing seeds outdoors, plant them about 3 to 4 weeks before your last frost date.
